American Beauty - Trailer - Movie Review: Il regista britannico Sam Mendes ha prima mostrato l'ipocrisia di una classe medio borghese americana con il suo capolavoro American Beauty, ed è poi diventato uno dei più potenti registi della Mecca del cinema. Questo film ci mostra una tipica famiglia statunitense che è però del tutto disfunzionale: la madre nevrotica, non soddisfatta del proprio matrimonio, che pensa solo a sè stessa e non capisce la figlia, il padre nella sua mezza età che non è riuscito ancora a concludere niente e va dietro a sogni di gloria della giovinezza e del sesso, si infatua infatti dell'amica della figlia. Ecco, la figlia è l'unica diversa che sopravvive a questo grigiume. L'ultimo colpo di grazia Mendes lo dà mostrando un ex colonnello dei marine che non sa di essere omosessuale, che usa la violenza per non ammetterlo.
